Frequently Asked Questions

You probably have questions! An investigation can feel unfamiliar, and you should never hesitate to ask about the process, expectations, or what happens next. A professional investigator should be transparent about methods, limitations, and communication so you always understand where your case stands.

When should I hire a licensed private investigator?

Most clients contact a private investigator when information matters but cannot be obtained on their own. This includes legal cases, suspected fraud, locating individuals, surveillance, identity verification, or event documentation. Early involvement often prevents evidence from being lost. Most importantly, it allows us as professionals to give you the best chance at obtaining the results you're seeking!

Can you help if my case is already in court?

Yes. Investigations are frequently conducted after charges are filed or a lawsuit has started. New witnesses, documentation, and timelines can still be developed. Identifying evidence early is crucial! And that's where we come in!

Do you work with private individuals or only attorneys?

Both! Some matters require attorney involvement, while others begin privately and later transition into legal proceedings.

Is the evidence you collect admissible in court?

Our investigations are conducted using lawful methods and detailed documentation. This allows  attorneys to evaluate admissibility. Final decisions about evidence use are ultimately made by the court.

Are investigations legal in Arizona?

Licensed private investigators must follow state and federal law. Activities such as trespassing and recording where prohibited are unlawful, and certainly not the Industry Standard. On the flip side, it's important to know that anyone operating as (or performing the duties of) a private investigator in the State of Arizona without a license is in criminal violation of Arizona Revised Statute 32-2411, as defined by ARS 32-2401.

How long does surveillance take?

It depends on behavior patterns. Some cases require a single day while others require multiple attempts to document relevant activity. Other cases extend weeks or months. Each case is different, which is why we customize a game plan specifically for your needs!

Can you guarantee you will catch something?

No investigator can ethically guarantee findings. The goal is accurate documentation, and sometimes that means information confirmation, or simply ruling things out!

Can you find someone who doesn’t want to be found?

Often, yes. Skip tracing combines records research, behavioral patterns, and investigative analysis to develop current contact information when legally permissible.

What information do you need to start?

Usually a name and some identifying details. More information can improve accuracy but is not always required.

What should I do if I suspect animal cruelty?

If an animal is in immediate danger, contact law enforcement first! And, document, if you can do so safely and legally. Much information may still be useful for case development!

Can you help me find a lost pet?

Yes. We provide structured recovery planning, including behavior-based search strategy and sighting verification guidance. Check out our Lost Pets page for a detailed action plan that's universally applicable!

Will my information remain confidential?

Yes. Client communications and investigative work are treated as confidential except where disclosure is legally required.

Do you testify in court?

When requested by an attorney, investigators may provide testimony regarding documented observations and investigative process.

How much does an investigation cost?

Costs vary based on time, complexity, and travel. After discussing your situation and needs, we can provide an estimate appropriate to the scope of work. Keep in mind that there is truth in the old cliche, "you get what you pay for." At the end of the day, information is invaluable. And, it's often an investment.

Do you require a retainer?

Technically, we call these Advance Payments. Many investigations begin with a an advance payment so that time and resources can be scheduled. We'll discuss details up front with you.
